Read time: 1 min Hey Reader, I've been sat here for the last 20 minutes thinking about what to write. I take that as a good sign. You see, writing online has been therapy for me. I've shared all of life's ugly details with you. But right now, I feel a sense of peace I haven't experienced in a while. Things are good. So much so, I've ditched my original plans for this email. Instead, I thought I'd share 7 things I'm grateful for. Maybe it'll encourage you to do the same. 5 minutes is all you need. Gratitude list#1 Relationship with my mum: We've always been close, but Rich's passing has brought us closer. #2 My girlfriend: She met my mum a couple of weekends ago. They hit it off straight away (huge relief!) #3 New connections: I reached out to Maria after reading her Medium articles. (They're great!) We've since gone back and forth over email and enjoyed a 2-hour conversation last week. It's amazing what can happen when you thank people for their work. #4 Japan travels: I'm flying out to Tokyo this Sunday and cannot wait! #5 Football commentary: I commentated on my fourth game last Tuesday. (You can follow along on X, TikTok, and YouTube). And an old man came up to at half-time to say how much he enjoyed my commentary. #6 My workplace: We now have a darts board. This is on top of a pool table and regular socials. I can almost hear our clients saying, "So THAT'S where our money goes" 😅 (We've got open roles in the UK and US if you fancy joining us) #7 The sun is shining: And life feels good :) As always, thanks so much for reading, and have a wonderful weekend! Hey Reader, Last Saturday, I did my first live commentary for Harrogate Railway's YouTube channel! Here's the replay. But this isn't what I want to talk to you about today. Not really. No, the unexpected thing happened because of a 51-second video... Making the video I wanted to make a "day in the life" voice over video. So throughout the day, I took the following shots: Researching on my laptop Writing notes Leaving my house Walking to the stadium Going through the turnstile Commentating on...
Hey Reader, Since the start of Feb, I've been trying to figure something out: How can I best serve you? You see, people on my email list have different interests: Outsourcing Freelancing Writing And on it goes. But what's the thing you've got in common? You probably stick around for me. *I just felt some sick in my mouth* 😅 All my favourite creators keep it real. Take Alice Lemee. We've never met in person, but I feel like we're internet friends because of her posts. (She's well worth a...
Read time: 1 min Hey Reader, Testimonials can help you land new clients, but there's a problem: Anyone can write them. The exception to this are testimonials on LinkedIn. They're verified. The question is how can you ask for these in a way that doesn't feel sleazy? A quick story A few months ago, I started working with Kit. It's been a joy. They're a great client. So much so, I wrote a LinkedIn post about how I landed the opportunity: At the end of the post, I thanked Thom — the person I work...
