You've been waiting for this 😍

Hey Reader,

Do you know what time it is?

It's SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT TIME! 🥳️

Let me tease you with a little background first...

I recently emailed writers about their goals.

I wanted to figure out how I could help them.

(And - by proxy - how I could help YOU ✌️)

Questions included:

  • Do you want to replace your full-time income in the next 6 months through writing?
  • Have you ever considered full-time writing before?
  • If so, what stopped you?

I'll quickly summarise the feedback:

Person A wants more views & to make (semi) passive income from writing online.

  • They're not sure if they want to write full-time, but they do want to supplement their earnings. (Their cushy job gives them lots of free time.) If they can attract coaching clients, even better!
  • They're just a little overwhelmed; they want to see results faster, and they're not sure what their niche is.
  • Oh, and that whole "writing consistently" thing? Yeah. That's an issue, too. As Elvis might say, "A little less procrastina-tion, a little more action, please!"

Person B wants help getting more clients, negotiating, pitching, setting rates, etc. (I.e., freelancing).

  • They like the idea of freelancing and want to make a part-time (maybe even a full-time) income, but they're not sure where to start or how to find clients.
  • They also believe that getting a business off the ground is difficult. Surely there aren't enough hours in the day to do this while working a 9-5 job?!

Whichever person you relate to, I can help.

I've gone from being stuck in a dead-end job to making $100K a year through writing. This includes working with clients, selling digital products, and other bits and bobs (affiliates, etc).

Don't get me wrong; it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Existential dread hits me from time to time like anyone else 😝

But I love playing with words for a living, and I want to help more writers like you succeed.

Here's a question:

What would you do with an extra $2-3K/month?

It's more than possible with the right help.

So this is why I'm (soft*) launching...

*Drum roll, please*

🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁

The Committed Writers Club! 🥳️

If you've taken part in one of my 30-Day Writing Challenges, The Committed Writers Club will be like that - but EVEN BETTER!

(And, dare I say, more laid back. You won't have to write every single day! 😆)

It'll be an online community where writers can share ideas, cheer each other on, and hold each other accountable to their goals.

You see, if there's one thing I've learned over the last 4 years, it's is:

Committing to writing is hard.

Some days - no matter what New Year's Resolution you set yourself - the words just don't come.

And that's okay!

But rather than give up on your writing dreams completely, we'll help each other through the difficult times so that you DON'T give up 🙌

Key benefits of The Committed Writers Club include:

  • Accountability to help you write more consistently 🙌
  • Support to help you achieve your writing goals & amplify your work 💸
  • Belonging to a community of like-minded writers 🤗

Key features include:

  • Welcome group call (to say hi, get to know one another, and discuss goals & challenges)
  • "Accountability Partner" channel (you can opt in or out)
  • "Celebrate Milestones" channel (first published article, 1 article a week, etc.)
  • Weekly co-writing sessions
  • Monthly calls
  • "Resources" channel (templates for writing, headlines, etc.)
  • "Writing Q&A" channel
  • Weekly office hours
  • Checklists and guides for success
  • Anything else members want to see!

Important info:

  • The membership fee will be $50 a month. I need pressure to show up properly and bring my "A game" to the community every day. The Committed Writers Club won't be like those Facebook groups you see that slowly die!
  • The community will be hosted on Circle. Trust me; you'll love it!
  • Doors will be open to 15 people ONLY. I want to make sure I can help every single writer who joins :)

*Here's the thing.

I will only make The Committed Writers Club a thing if people actually want it.

I know this community has the potential to be INCREDIBLE.

And I know it's something I want to see in the world.

But if people don't like the idea, that's totally cool.

So, if you want to be one of the 15 founding members of The Committed Writers Club, AND you're willing to put your money where your mouth is, I'm asking you to PayPal me your first month's membership ($50).

If I can get 15 people to do this in the next 7 days, I'll have proved there's enough demand, and I'll launch The Committed Writers Club this summer! 🥳️

If I can't, you'll get your money back.

Now, I know this isn't how people usually launch things.

Some writers send email after email about their new product or community.

(All power to them!)

But that feels icky to me.

So here's what I'll do instead:

I'll swing by in 3 days' time with a brief reminder about The Committed Writers Club.

I know that sometimes people forget or they need time to think through purchases like this.

Then, one week from now, I'll announce if I've managed to get 15 people through the door.

If I don't, I'll return everyone's money.

Simple!

So, if you're looking for:

  • Accountability to help you write more consistently 🙌
  • Support to help you achieve your writing goals & amplify your work 💸
  • A sense of belonging in a community of like-minded writers 🤗

Make The Committed Writers Club a reality by PayPaling me your first month's membership ($50).

I want to make this the best online writing community in the world.

And with your help, I believe we can.

Thanks so much for reading.

Let's do this! :)

Scott

p.s. If you have any questions, please reply to this email, and I'll answer them all in the follow-up email in 3 days' time! :)

Read time: 1 min Hey Reader, Testimonials can help you land new clients, but there's a problem: Anyone can write them. The exception to this are testimonials on LinkedIn. They're verified. The question is how can you ask for these in a way that doesn't feel sleazy? A quick story A few months ago, I started working with Kit. It's been a joy. They're a great client. So much so, I wrote a LinkedIn post about how I landed the opportunity: At the end of the post, I thanked Thom — the person I work...

Hey Reader, I'm sorry I ghosted you. Lots of stuff has happened, so I took a break from being online. But I didn't tell you the full story. So here it is: My mum was with her partner, Rich, for 20 years. He was a wonderful man, and I considered him my dad. But a call from my mum soon changed that. "We've got some bad news, I'm afraid. Rich has been diagnosed with lung cancer. And he has brain tumours." It felt like déjà vu. My mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 18 months ago. (She's all...

Read time: 3 mins 📢 Spoiler alert: I have an important update at the end of this email... Hey Reader, I'll be honest; I'm not sure about the freelancing course I put out last week. It was an experiment. I wanted to see: What the unsubscribe rate would be How it would feel to put it out there Whether anyone would book a call It's a mixed bag on all these things, and I felt a little dirty putting the course out there. Why? I copied the style from another creator and it didn't really vibe with...
